Battle of Sheriffmuir 300th anniversary

Jimi has been asked to pipe at a special remembrance ceremony commemorating the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Sheriffmuir near Stirling.

Members of his own clan fought and died to a man after taking up arms for the House of Stuart (Jacobites).

Jimi will be piping from 2pm on Friday November 13 - exactly 300 days from the start of the battle - at the clan Macrae monument, Sheriffmuir. He will then lead a procession to the 'gatherin' stane' on the old battle site.

Earlier this year Jimi released the following music video in honour of all those who died at Sheriffmuir, particularly his ancestors from clan Macrae

Join Jimi as he journeys from the old Sheriffmuir battlefield over mountains and passes to the ancient Macrae heartland of Kintail. "I wanted to do it for the ancestors" said Jimi. "For all the guys who never made it back".

Music is an arrangement of Spaidsearachd Mhic Rath (The MacRaes' March) which dates from 1491. Words are an arrangement of Theid Mi Dhachaid 'Chro Chinn T-Saille. (I will return to the cattle fold of Kintail) An English translation is included in the video notes.

Song is available to download at all good on-line music stores. (link to I Tunes included at bottom of the video)
